CBSE's Revamped Exam Pattern Paves the Way for Seamless Transition to CUET

Notably, the weightage of traditional constructed response questions has been reduced to 30%, reflecting a deliberate shift towards evaluating practical application over memorization.

With the alignment of preparation for both Boards and CUET, Schools are poised to transform into holistic preparatory centers for both exams. Students will have the opportunity to undergo comprehensive preparation for both board exams and CUET within the school environment. This integrated approach will not only reduce the pressure on students to seek external coaching but will also liberate valuable time that can be dedicated to cultivating extracurricular interests.

Yet, realizing this potential necessitates a fundamental shift in the educational approach of schools. Emphasis must be placed on delivering value through pedagogies that cater to the demands of CUET alongside traditional board exams. This is important as renowned institutions such as Delhi University and Banaras Hindu University prioritize CUET scores over Class XII Board exam marks for admissions. It is worth noting that going forward, schools will face a shift in how they are evaluated. Their effectiveness will no longer be evaluated by conventional metrics, but rather by their students' ability to secure coveted admissions to prestigious universities through CUET.

However, effecting this transition requires some fundamental changes at the ground level. It demands a concerted effort to upskill educators and sensitize students to the evolving landscape of education. Many educators are yet to familiarize themselves with the innovative pedagogies underpinning the revamped exam pattern which highlights the need for training and professional guidance for teachers. Similarly, students must be sensitized to the online format of examinations, given the prevalent trend of major exams transitioning to digital platforms. Acclimatization to online testing not only enhances students' comfort with technology but also empowers them to leverage online resources effectively.
